POETRY

LOSING SOMETHING OR SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT CAN BREAK YOUR HEART. HERE ARE SOME POEMS WHICH DEAL WITH THIS SUBJECT.

THE EXODUS
There is a pill stuck in my throat
That I just have to swallow
Tears won't stop falling...
Like a winter blizzard in Southern California
It only rains and rains
The streets are flooded now,
I need a boat to gain passage
From one place to the next.

I'm a flower with soil much to moist
And I long for the sun to shine.
A marine layer has moved in
And is drawing thicker by the hour--
The ocean mist feels cold on my skin.

I hadn't expected the ducks
To migrate so soon this year
The radar screens are jammed
By their sudden exodus.
